1. By Material

2. By Manufacturing Method

They are divided into welded wire mesh and woven wire mesh.

Welded wire mesh: the mesh is permanently and regularly welded at all intersecting joints of steel wires. This process makes the mesh more rigid and stronger and allows it to contain heavier duty loads without deforming. It can be divided into: galvanizing before welding mesh and galvanizing after welding wire mesh. The former actually uses galvanized wires as a raw material; while the latter uses carbon steel wire as materials and welded together, then the mesh is galvanized.

Woven wire mesh: it is woven from steel wires. The intersection of the woven mesh is not fixed so that it is more flexible and elastic. It also has galvanized before weaving mesh and galvanized before weaving mesh.

3. By Surface Treatment

They are either galvanized or plastic-coated to increase their anti-corrosion ability and extend their service life.

Galvanization: it includes hot dipped galvanizing and electro galvanizing. Hot-dipped galvanized wire and mesh will be more durable. 

Plastic coated wire mesh: PVC and PE are two common paintings used to wrap the mesh. They are relatively low in cost, resilient, corrosion-resistant, and has good insulating properties. 

4. By Opening Shape

Based on their hole sizes, they can be divided into square wire mesh, rectangular wire mesh, diamond wire mesh, hexagonal wire mesh.

5. By End Usage

Heavy-duty wire mesh: in contrast, this has a thicker diameter (>2.5mm), more applied in large projects like environmental governance, mining processes, construction processes, slope protection, concrete reinforcing mesh, etc. Heavy hexagonal wire mesh is a typical example of it.
